What are PMI Certifications?

There are two PMI certifications PMP (Project Management Professional) and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management). Here are details for these
Project Management Professional

Project Management Professional or PMP is credential which could be obtained after getting certification in project management. PMP exam has 2 hours duration with 200 questions in it 25 out of them are considered pretest questions. Pretest questions don’t affect score and are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way for checking validity of upcoming exams questions.

Certified Associate in Project Management

Certified Associate in Project Management is entry level project management certification and it’s designed to manage team members according to ANSI standard PMBOK (project Management Body of Knowledge Guide). Candidates for this certification can schedule exams after making payment to PMI. CAPM validity is for five years from the date that the exam was passed.

Prerequisites for PMP Certification:

For Bachelor Degree Holders:

  1. At least three year /36 months professional project management experience in which 4,500 hours would be spent leading and directing project tasks.
  2. 35 contact hours from formal PMI certified for PMP training.

For High School Diploma Holders:

  1. Associate’s degree or global equivalent
  2. Minimum five years or 60 months unique overlapping professional project management experience in which at least 7,500 hours should spent in leading and directing project tasks.
  3. 35 contact hours from formal PMI certified PMP training
